Advance Praise for "Fried Clams With Bellies"
Roz Browne's "Fried Clams With Bellies" is a raucous romp chronicling her
childhood days from digging for clams on the Boston shoreline to her crazy
teenage years hanging in the city's juke joints---populated with nefarious
and unforgettable characters--- to her poignant encounters with Australian
aborigines and South African apartheid.
With wit and wisdom, Roz Browne transforms herself into her younger self,
her sometimes overbearing mother, nosy siblings, fight-picking classmates,
roller-skating husband-to-be and know-it-all co-workers, all without the
advantage of costumes or set changes---she simply uses her words to paint
pictures in your mind. A hand on the hip, an arched eyebrow and
finger-popping off-key singing all convey her message.
Although the stories are specific to Roz's Roxbury neighborhood of Boston,
the work transcends geography. Her themes of love, family and acceptance are
universally embraceable. The show's title reflects this singular truth about
the human experience: Although clam bellies, and people, may not look
appealing on the outside, good can still be found on the inside.

Fried Clams With Bellies? What people are saying…
Hey Roz,
Your show was hilarious! I cracked up from the opening through the end. It
reminded me so much of growing up in Boston, everything from the Stop and
Shop on Blue Hill Avenue to the Sugar Shack and Combat Zone. Even though I
got a lot of the "inside jokes" because I grew up in Boston, the material
was so universal that my husband Dion laughed throughout.
All the best with your upcoming performances! Rock .... Steady! er, I mean,
Rox .... bury!

ROZ! "FRIED CLAMS WITH BELLIES" was great! I have to hand it to you Girl!
You have taken it to another level! I even enjoyed your performance better
than the Chris Rock/Bernie Mac movie I saw last night! Within the first 10
minutes of your performance, I loved it! I was wide awake! and was smiling
hard! I am so proud of you, and I love the way Thomas supports you and takes
charge to make sure everything goes smoothly. A real man he is. He
definitely should be put on the payroll! You guys are great.
